> **Puntos a favor**: It is completely customizable.  Even the landing page can be customized to display your environment in the way that you want to see it.  Alerts can be taken from the library and/or customized for your needs.  A graphic display of your environment with color-coded conditions is useful for a quick visual look at your environment, and I have it running on one of my system monitors all the time.  Email alerts, text messages - all customizable.

> **Desventajas**: Like any large-scale program, it can be difficult to learn and I recommend attending training to get the most out of the product, which is an additional cost.  And the product isn't cheap to begin with.  Just looking at the initial screens can be very intimidating.

> When you have a lot of servers  and a lot of websites and your college administrators are demanding that they be up 95% of the time or better, you need a good monitoring tool.  What's Up Gold is the best tool I've found out there, bar none.

> we started using this software many years ago.  originally, we started before the Gold version existed.  it has been running ever since, and it usually provides the first warning when something goes wrong.  it also tells us when something is starting to look a little funny, so most of the time we can address the issue before it becomes an issue.

Whatsupgold has been good in terms of letting us know proactively when a key system is down and for monitoring the bandwidth at our network sites. It's been a very solid platform when doing some basic things

> **Desventajas**: The interface is very unintuitive. It feels like you need to take a course on the platform in order to use it successfully. There are alot of options within the platform, but getting them all to work in a clear/clean fashion takes alot of work. Sometimes it feels like you need adjust to the limitations of the platform rather then the platform conforming to you. It doesn't feel as modern as it once did.

> Overall - Whatsupgold gets the job done but its not a platform that I would necessarily gravitate towards today if I were starting over. The platform definitely has the tools to get the job done, but those tools are not organized in a coherent/cohesive way - which makes the experience feel quite disjointed.

> **Desventajas**: I don't like the licensing model. We have multiple sites and we have to set up fully licensed instances at those remote sites for monitoring of those resources. Additionally, we don't have a way to combine all of those remote sites into a single pane of glass with our main site so that we can get a holistic view of our enviornment.

> My experience has been pretty good, but as of right now we're looking at other more cost effective options.
