gran ide para programar en JAVA

Revisado el 19/12/2022

Puntos a favor

Puntos a favor

Puntos a favor

Puntos a favor

Puntos a favor

We use Eclipse IDE in the bank for development of Java interfaces and APIs for consuming third party application data.

Puntos a favor

Eclipse has been in the market for a long time now and hence the IDE has now matured to a great extent.
For Java Developers, this is the best bet. Excellent integrated environment for development and exposing APIs as a war file.
It has an excellent debugging tool. Also there are a lot of plugins available which makes implementing business logic more convenient as compared to Net Beans.

Desventajas

Its sad to know that Eclipse is not as prepared for other high level programming languages like in case of Java. So if you are coding in a language other than Java SE or EE, Eclipse might not be your best bet.

The Kitchen Sink

Overall, you can def get the job done with Eclipse. They really do put their heart and soul into the product, and the fact that it has such a strong long-lived community says a lot. I think if you are a hardcore developer or engineer, Eclipse is a great candidate for your champion IDE, but if you are seasoned old guy like myself, I prefer simplicity, more purpose-built IDE's; aka I prefer less features and more mastery in my IDE. As such my go-to's are often a hodgepodge of tools that compliment each other (due the type of work I often do). As such, I don't use Eclipse as much as some.

I recommend you check it out -- see if it's your style and if so, buy them some coffee -- they really do a great job and I applaud them for being so dedicated over the years.

Puntos a favor

The Eclipse team really does care about their product. It's really is amazing how it just seems to do a bit of everything. When I was first introduced to Eclipse, now 8+ years ago, it was a bit overwhelming. I was coming from a background using Vi/Vim, and being thrown into Eclipse is a bit like sky diving when you are used to a trampoline. That said, if you love features, and you love customizing your environment this is def the product you want to roll with. There are SO many integrations that it makes it feel like a no-brainer.

Desventajas

Some of the things that make Eclipse so great can also make it bit too 'loud' and/or cumbersome. I liken Eclipse to the 'kitchen sink' analogy -- it seems to come with everything, even the 'kitchen sink' (an old American idiom). Meaning, it has so much included with it that it makes other IDE's seem small in comparison. However, when you start with 'everything' thrown at you at once, it can be a bit confusing and less 'purpose built' for small tasks.

Razones para cambiar a Eclipse IDE

I use it primarily because my team uses it. We have workflows that we've built up over the years. That said, it's not the only IDE I use -- gotta select the right tool for the job.

Switched to Software With Better User Experience / GUI

Overall the benefits of it being free and having lots of basic tutorials available did not outweigh the issues of the user interface and poor experience. I decided to go with IntelliJ IDE and was much happier overall.

Puntos a favor

As a former user, I'd say that the biggest benefits of Eclipse (while I used it) were the low price and the dearth of web content on using it. I was exploring Java applets as a tool in handling some internal tasks on a Intranet, so I wasn't even sure whether Java was the right choice for me. Being able to fire up a free yet capable IDE and follow some tutorials allowed me to test my proof of concept fairly quickly.

Desventajas

What led me to go with another product (IntelliJ IDEA) was the fact that the user interface and experience are just not enjoyable. The approach to debugging is very convoluted. I don't code very often, so at first I assumed it was normal. After trying a few other IDEs I realized that the whole Debug View approach seemed needlessly complicated, as a layperson. The UI is not very presentable, and it has some delays in refactoring and displaying that perhaps are a side effect of it being needlessly complex. Also, the dearth of tutorials and plugins were good at first but then I ran into the issue that the software is changing so much that the tutorials and plugins were oftentimes irrelevant or rendered obsolete.

I would recommend Eclipse to anyone interested in Java programming, it's powerful enough to do great things.

Puntos a favor

Eclipse is one of the best IDEs that I have tried, it offers a lot of features that make programming easy.

Desventajas

The only thing that I do not like it's the interface, basically because it looks old compared to other IDEs in the market.

The IDE was used for the development of applications and extensions of monitoring tools. In addition to the implementation of devops flows.

Puntos a favor

It is very easy to customize and extend it based on plugins, in addition to the debugging functions that allow the development of applications to be simpler, being able to condition the execution to the productive environment for which the application is intended.

Desventajas

The IDE has a lot of plugins and many of them are not compatible, and you can only tell when you are using the IDE, causing it to become unstable.

Solves many problems, but it's not the first option

Revisado el 26/10/2021

Despite the shortcomings, I can say that it's more pleasant to create for Android in Eclipse using the plugin than using Android Studio. That's because the development of the supporting part of Eclipse is phenomenal. He helps you with things that clearly someone needed to use and took the trouble to develop. For example, for Android the help to find errors or gaps in internationalization is much more efficient in Eclipse than in Android Studio. When I used it for Java and PHP some things were like that, but then you stumble across something someone else did too lazy or in a hurry, and you get stuck.

Puntos a favor

It is a complete IDE, with many support tools, many plugins and support for many popular programming languages. It has "versions" with embedded items, making it easy to install for this or that purpose, such as IOT projects or embedded electronics, PHP or Java. If you don't have another tool, with Eclipse you can create your end-to-end product and deliver.

Desventajas

First off, Eclipse is free, but I put an average price. This is because despite not having a license cost, you have cost of use in productivity. If you take twice as much time on tool X it already costs you hours of production. I find Eclipse old-fashioned, heavy, huge and dated. It's not nice to use Eclipse, it's just functional. And he has many errors in obscure canvases that look like they were made twenty years ago.

Apache NetBeans y IntelliJ IDEA

Razones para elegir Eclipse IDE

That was a while ago. Today Eclipse is part of our toolbox but is only used for certain types of tasks. At the time we needed to get out of VB6 and JBuilder (Borland) was too expensive. The eclipse did, and while it's not a ferrari, sometimes it's the old 1113 truck that saves the day. We tried using Netbeans for a while, but it was SLOW and managed to make even the easiest task difficult. At the time it was Sun, but Netbeans under Apache doesn't look better.

Razones para cambiar a Eclipse IDE

It's worth commenting because the decision he took a few years ago is still in effect, and we would make the same decision today: we tested Netbeans and InteliJ IDEA at the time. Netbeans was slow, heavy, did any task in the least intuitive way. JBuilder was expensive and therefore unaffordable for us. InteliJ IDEA was even more expensive, but it was great. Eclipse was mid-range between the three worlds and with no direct associated cost.

#Great compatibility.#Free to use Eclipse IDE.#Highlight in syntax when while writing code.#Inbuilt terminal to see the output of the code, which saves time. We don't need to go to CMD every time.

Puntos a favor

#Eclipse is a most used open source IDE (integrated development environment) for java development. #It provides best platform on which we software engineers develops apps specially in java and websites code. #It helps us by providing no of features related to development like importing libraries, sharing files, file management, better UI and many more.#We can also Push and Pull the code on Git-hub directly.#It also helps in writing bug free code by assisting while writing code i.e. auto suggestion. This IDE is famous for java development.

Desventajas

Eclipse Integrated IDE makes it simple to create Java projects

Revisado el 22/1/2023

Puntos a favor

It is both free and open source. It also includes code templates that are ready to use. It facilitates the addition of many plugins, resulting in a speedier development process. Eclipse has already set hotkeys for a variety of operations and allows you to configure one, which saves me a significant amount of time writing. It provides excellent debugging capabilities. With a basic user interface, it is simple to use and onboard. Provides a variety of editors, and the night mode in the newer versions makes it easier for developers to code.

Desventajas

The user interface is awkward. It might take a long time to open and run the code. It might be difficult to use if one is unfamiliar with or does not comprehend an IDE, since it takes time to become used to. When several plugins are added, it might get sluggish.

It offers a variety of editors, and the night mode in more recent versions makes coding easier for developers. The community support there is outstanding for learners. Additionally, it offers a private code repository and a unified workspace.

Puntos a favor

It has the greatest code-writing recommendations and an easy-to-create framework. A very large community is available for any needed assistance. It contains many significant features, including automatic syntax validation and assistance with code reworking. I find that Eclipse plugins work best for me because they make it easier to integrate different supporting plugins into the IDE.

Desventajas

The time it takes to open and run the code can be extremely long. It crashes when I run numerous workspaces or projects. If Eclipse offered connectivity to a database server and the ability to create basic queries, that would be useful.

8/10! Great for beginners learning to test and easy to use. Perfect intergration with Jenkins. Love that it has cucumber implemented and I can just shorten my test to make it readable for others to read. Maven built in is so useful.

Puntos a favor

This is where I learned Java and practiced my first intern job of backend testing for my company's website. Great for beginner and easy to learn, has a nice organized structure on the left panel that you can customized with accordingly to whatever project you're doing.

Desventajas

It gets buggy with syncing and sometimes JARs don't work properly you have to move them around or either manually/auto through maven repository to work well. Also it can crash if running too many test, so I use multiple computer instead. So much error (red text) while testing, always have to figure out how to fix them. Wish they just create a template or a way to fix these issues without having to figure it out, such as logj4 errors and compatibility errors. Wish I can have a in-app browser instead of having to switch screen and back to Eclipse over and over when testing browser.

Eclipse - A simple, Easy to use, Basic IDE (Mother of all IDE's)

My experience as a student with eclipse is very good and smooth. I am still using this IDE for developing many major and minor academic projects. I started using this IDE as a student to practice java but then I started all my development work on it, many coaching institute including my college using this ide to teach the students.

Puntos a favor

The best feature about eclipse is its interface which is basic, clean and easy to understand. This IDE is very lightweight in terms of consuming processors. Most helpful user for this IDE will be a student because for a beginner this IDE provide enough features and it does not confuse the user by showing complex architecture and multiple options, If you are a student then I hardly recommend you this IDE.

Desventajas

The thing which I did not like the most is that It does not have a javascript debugger or a live server plugin as we have in netbeans and visual studio code, while developing a website a faced multiple problems in javascript writing because I can not see the errors at the time of writing, I think this is the only disadvantage in my opinion.

Overall I like Eclipse and have had a positive experience. It is an inexpensive option that performs at a high level.

Puntos a favor

What I like most about the Eclipse IDE is the different profiles depending on the type of development being done. If you're using java, that's the profile is pretty much standard. If you're using Spring you can launch your server directly within the IDE. In addition there are plenty of add-on's that can be downloaded from the market place.

Desventajas

What I liked least is the lack of shortcuts out of the box. I've used other IDE's like InteliJ and the added shortcuts make things way more efficient; nonetheless, Intellij can be rather expensive when compared to an open sourced option like Eclipse. The fact that you can get Eclipse IDE without a monthly subscription makes the lack of shortcuts seem like a frivolous complaint.

Ease of setup and user interactions to set up a project and do the development work for almost a decode for me now. A lot of improvements on their new versions show that they are valuing their users and consistently improvising their products.

My Review of Eclipse IDE

My overall experience with Eclipse IDE is not good.

My overall experience with Eclipse IDE is not good.

Puntos a favor

I like that I can integrate 3rd party applications with Eclipse IDE to manage my API to test my back-end. Also, I like that Eclipse IDE provides a range of programming languages for different use. Eclipse IDE doesn't consume much memory which is good.

Desventajas

I don't like the interface of Eclipse IDE as it is difficult in managing environments. Eclipse IDE is not good for beginners as there is little documentation and tutorials that explain how to use it. Also, there is no feature for collaborative work.
